IDRF Objectives

Founded in July 2005, the IDRF (Association of Regional Aerodromes) is a consortium of more than 60 regional and commercial airports and airfields. The IDRF represents the common interests of its members and promotes the optimization of existing facilities and capacities. In addition the IDRF lobbies for the preservation and expansion of a comprehensive air traffic infrastructure in Germany.

The IDRF represents its members in the area of public relations, as well as with dealings with the media, authorizing agencies, and other state institutions. It aids in the field of regulations, for example when making statements regarding air traffic legislature. A joint web presence on the IDRF website supports and displays the common interests of its members.

In order to counteract the pressure of rising costs caused by, among others things, new European directives; IDRF members are working together to efficiently find solutions to reducing costs.

In particular, the aim is to make use of the expertise and experience of individual aerodromes and use these to serve all members. In addition the IDRF hopes to be able to better solve future problems by working together as a community.

Quarterly meetings of all IDRF aerodrome executive mangers are the organizational basis for this collaboration. An IDRF coordinator is responsible for the moderation of the gathering, the preparation of topics, summing up conclusions, as well as coordinating votes on the various projects.
